Increased Premiums!

<p>I have had my home contents and vehicle insurance policy in place with Discovery since 2014. At the end of February this year, I received an email from them advising that it is my policy anniversary in April and that they increased my premiums - by R771!</p> <p>They did not even take into account that just in December, I added my laptop and cellphone to my policy at cost of R400 extra!</p> <p>After my broker going back and forth and providing them with other competitive quotes, they reduced the new premium back to what it was. But I had to change my policy to different plan and my broker had to drop his commission in order to reduce my premium.</p> <p>And the only claim I put through since 2014 was for windscreen replacement in March this year.</p> <p>Here is the funny thing, on 1 May, they debited my account with another R300 extra. And their response is that <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">the policy wasn’t in anniversary when they made the changes to reduce the premium. </font></span></p> <p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">So basically they tried to pull the wool over our eyes and reduce the premiums for just a month, only take the opportunity to increase it again!</font></span></p> <p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">What kind of company operates so slyly? </font></span></p> <p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">And when a new premium is in place, doesn't that have to stick for atleast the next 12 months?</font></span></p> <p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">Discovery Insure is a **** *******! I have a friend whose premium was also going to be increased in April by R600 and she dropped them all together!</font></span></p> <p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif'; font-size: 11pt; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-ZA; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;"><font color="#000000">I would never ever recommend these bunch of ******* to anyone I know! </font></span></p>

We have made contact with you today, however have been unable to get a hold of you.

As per our findings your policy was set to come into its anniversary with effect 1 April 2016, with the new premium that was confirmed on the anniversary schedule.

The changes that were done on your policy which came into effect prior your anniversary were confirmed on the schedule that was sent with this updated this information.

However your anniversary was still to come into effect on the 1 April 2016, taking into consideration the changes done, which would form part of the now revised plan.

We have emailed you the revised policy schedule.

We apologise for the confusion regarding this matter.

Regards,

Sakhe

Best regards,

Can you please explain this in normal terms? Are you reverting back to my old premium or are you still charging me the new one? I haven't received any revised policy schedule yesterday.

My broker has just confirmed that you haven't revised my premium at all. This is ridiculous! Please answer my question, does my negotiated premium that we agreed on in March not stick for 12 months? Do you people not care that I took out cell phone and laptop cover just before you decided to increase my premium? And you increase my premium by R700? And I didn't even claim once at that time! What justifies that! Please do not come back to me with generic automatic responses as you have done above. I want someone to explain to me why Discovery operates so slyly by pulling the wool over my eyes only to increase my premiums again. And if this premium is not reduced, you are warned that this will go much further than Hello Peter!
