Hearing Aids not fully covered by Discovery Insure

I recently moved my short term insurance to Discovery Insure after researching a number of companies and I believed that I had made the correct choose even though they were not the cheapest. At the time of making my choose I requested a quotation for All Risk insurance for hearing aids that I would be getting in December. The price for these seemed fair. I now have these hearing aids and wanted them insured only find, and I quote from correspondence, "Please note the below: · No cover for accidental damage is in place for hearing aid, including wear and tear and water damage" When questioned on the lack of ALL RISK cover the reply that I have seen is, and again I quote "Because of claims experience and the risk is higher on these prils" It seems that I made a bad chose of insurance company and I am starting the research again.

Good day Philip

Thank you for raising your concerns.

Hearing aids do enjoy cover.

It is to be noted that our underwriting ( risk calculating ) process has put these exclusions in place in order to manage risk accordingly. Some risk may simply be too far wide and greater to take on. Due to history and experience, Discovery Insure reserves the right to make such a condition.

We are not averse to insuring hearing aids ie). cohlear ( implants ) will be covered with no exclusions. In addition, we point out that each case is dealt with on it own merits.

Regards
