Good Customer Service is what the clients thinks it is.

Lets just remind ourselves what "good customer service is". Good Customer Service is what the client thinks it is!!!! In 2014 November I added my wife's 2 x sentimental rings to my Discovery Short Term Policy after her and two of her friends were hi-jacked in front of my property. Discovery required a valuation certificate in order for them to quote me a premium that would cover the risk from their side. After getting the valuation certificate I immediately sent it into Discovery upon which they Quoted me a additional premium of R192 per month for the 2 x rings to be covered under the policy in the case of loss or theft. On the 31 August my wife was involved in another high-jacking in KEW in which her car, cell phones, laptop, jewelry and purse was ****** in a very violent incident in which 8 ******s attacked her and made off with everything. The vehicle was recovered in Alexandra and has since been authorized for repair due to it being bumped in the *******. The only other claim I submitted was for the 2 x specified rings which according to me had been covered since 2014 Nov. I have also unfortunately misplaced the original valuation certificate which of course Discovery now demand in order to pay the claim. Discovery have lost the certificate because they had the certificate which they needed in their possession to calculate the required premium from 2014 Nov. This has left a bitter taste in our mouths because Discovery is only willing to pay-out R5000 for the 2 x rings. Not just has my wife had to endure the trauma of an incident like this but now also been refused to replace her 2 x rings. The wedding ring is a family heritage and holds a lot of sentimental value attached to it. For 7 years have Discovery taken a monthly premium from me and never once have they from their side enquired about the valuation certificate. Discovery now authorizes the minimum payout of R5000 and deems this to be "good customer service". As soon as this claim has been settled in its entirety will most definitely be cancelling my short term policy with Discovery Insure.
