Generic or alternative glass on a warranty vehicle is not acceptable!
I've submitted a glass claim (***) to Discovery Insure. They insisted on using generic glass, but I require manufacturer-approved glass to maintain my vehicle's integrity, value, and warranty due to its advanced features (rain sensors & radar). Discovery Insure requested a letter from the manufacturer to justify this requirement. I've contacted the dealership for this documentation. Upon completion, I'll cancel my policy, dissatisfied with their claims process. This being my first claim since joining in November 2023, I'm disappointed and will take my business elsewhere."

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, it has reinforced my concerns regarding Discovery's business practices. I strongly object to the use of alternative/generic parts on my vehicle, which is less than a year old. This compromises the warranty and integrity of my property, contradicting my expectation of dealing with a reputable company that values honesty and integrity.
While generic glasses meet SABS safety standards, they are not manufacturer-approved for my vehicle, which features advanced rain sensors and radar. I will provide the required letter from the dealership to substantiate this.
I am dismayed that I must prove this to Discovery, particularly given the seamless onboarding process and premium payments exceeding R31,000 to date. The complexity surrounding this glass claim raises concerns about potential future claims for more significant damages.
Regrettably, this experience has eroded my trust in Discovery's commitment to customer interests. It appears that cost savings take precedence over customer needs. Consequently, I will be terminating my policy and have already explored alternative insurance options.
I will follow up with a call tomorrow to finalise the cancellation.
Sincerely,

Re: Claim Number ########
I have provided the confirmation letter from Haval, as requested, which unequivocally confirms the vehicle's warranty validity until November 2028. Furthermore, the letter emphasises the necessity of utilising Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) glass to maintain optimal functionality of the advanced sensor and radar systems.
In light of this documentation, I respectfully request that you expedite the resolution of this claim and ensure that OEM glass is installed to avoid any potential warranty voidance or system malfunctions.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a swift resolution.
Kind regards,"

Re: Claim Number ######
I am writing to confirm that the issue regarding the OEM glass replacement has been resolved, as evidenced by the email confirmation of approval received earlier.
Regrettably, the resolution does not mitigate the underlying concerns that prompted my initial complaint. The necessary information regarding my vehicle's features, publicly available on various platforms, was readily accessible. A simple online search would have sufficed to verify the requirements.
Instead, I was subjected to unnecessary inconvenience and delay, apparently driven by cost-containment efforts. This experience has irreparably compromised the trust fundamental to our insurance relationship.
Consequently, I hereby notify my intention to terminate my policy, effective month-end, as previously contemplated.
Sincerely
Zukile G
