EXTREMELY pathetic insurance claim service.

On the 8th of June I accidentally dropped my phone and immediately submiited a claim with Discovery Insure. On the 9th of June at 10:04 I received a phone call from a very friendly and helpful agent that went through the details with me and the process following the claim. In the conversation she happened to mention that because of the type of insurance we have I will not be liable for the excess of R750 to have the phone fixed. After about a week I received feedback that my phone is ready but I must pay the R750 excess before I can get it back.

After emailing the agent that is handling my claim and mentioning that the agent who phoned me assured me I am not liable for the excess he emailed me back stating that they have gone through the recording of this claim and there is no evidence that she said I am not liable for the excess. Now look. I consider myself a honest person. But that aside only a extremely idiotic person will lie about a statement being made knowing full well there is a RECORDING that can prove him wrong. And I for one am not that idiotic. Afterwards I proceeded to request the recording of that same conversation that happened on June 9 at 10:04 but have not heard a word since. During this past week my financial adviser has ALSO emailed THE SAME agent on FOUR seperate occasions on which even she has not had a single reply. The name of this agent is Lesego Rapoo. He deserves to be publically known for the extremely pathetic and disrespectful service he has provided.

I have never had a issue with Discovery. As a matter of fact I always try and convince others to join Discovery when asked about their service and products. I have been a loyal member on most of the products they have available. And in a way it saddens me that I must make this post. I am so disappointed that I am actually considering taking my business elsewhere.

I would've been better off saving the money I spent on phone insurance and just having it fixed myself.

Well I'm sorry but then it is your responsibility to make sure that your claim agents are clued up in these underwritings and don't say things that actually play into the clients favour.

Secondly that still doesn't justify the pathetic service I have received from the start of this claim.
