Don't touch Discovery Insure with a bargepole
I reported my dual geyser (solar and electric hybrid), as being out of order on Friday 12th July. I am writing this on the 19th and the full service has not been replaced. My broker's assistant Michelle from Trent Hodges office tried to help, but her efforts have just shown up how broken and ineffective the Discovery Insure system is. I have been pushed from pillar to post; plumbers have come and left without me being informed of why my geyser was not yet installed and operative. When I followed up, I was told that an electrician was needed and later when the same sad pattern recurred, that we needed Kwikhot the equipment manufacturer. This went on over again the whole week. Discovery are an arrogant brand, thinking they are cutting edge. But they cannot manage a standard and very ordinary project. They seem to want to improve profit margin by tying in contractors, and to collect information from the customer in the most cynical way. Their contractors seem to be very transactional and nobody coordinates the different part of the process. The problem is that besides this lack of capable customer relationship management (what's there is friendly but useless), the contractors seem to be worried about getting paid by discovery and aren't incentivised or interested in the end customer. Shocking, disappointing and one of the biggest gaps between brand promise and delivery I have experienced in thirty years of home ownership and therefore householder insurance. Incidentally, I am a purple inside plan person, who is not especially worried about cost of insurance but demand responsive, intelligent service
