Don't be fooled by the name Discovery.
Client service is non existing to Discovery Insure staff. My car was taken the day after I made an accident. It took Discovery weeks to tell me it is a write off 9r not. This after I gave them all the documentation and information as quickly as possible. The news that my car is a write off, I only received by constantly mailing them, constantly following up. Never was I kept in the loop spontaneously from their side.
A few weeks before my next installment was due to go off on my car, I took the liberty phoning the financial institution where I bought my car from, seeing that I didn't know if my write off car was paid off yet. I had to learn then and there my car is not paid off yet and I am still hold liable for a car I don't OWN anymore!!!
After many emails that I've sent, the last response I got was: "Can you please provide us with your claim number, so that we can look into this"
If you want to save yourself the effort, numerous emails, numerous phone calls, constantly checking up. Do not be fooled by the word Discovery. As everybody believes they are so amazing. Maybe with medical insurance, but sure as NOT car insurance.
They are greedy, with no intention delivering a service.
Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.
We have since looked into the matter and can account as follows:
There were 3 key factors which led to your settlement being delayed.
- The vehicle description captured
- The incorrect bank details by the finance house received
- The outstanding license disc while the vehicle was still in your name
The above needed to be streamlined 1st before settlement could be effected with the relevant finance house. The broker on the policy was also instrumental in aiding the process to be swift and constant communication was held with them.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused and that this review , like many others, will assist us in becoming better at what we do.
