Do not go to Discovery Insure if you want peace of mind
On December 26 I hit a pothole and sustained two tyre punctures. I called Discovery Insure who then towed the car away using First Help. On my call I was told an assessor would be sent the following day. I did not hear back from Discovery until I followed up on December 29 upon which i was told to contact their assessor for an update. I called the assessment company who then told me that they couldn't locate my vehicle at a Roodepoort depot where it was towed to. I then called Discovery Insure again only for them to insist the vehicle was in Roodepoort. I called the towing company who confirmed that they dropped the car in Roodepoort but someone at Discovery had instructed another company to carry the vehicle to a panel beater in wynberg. The car only needed tyre replacement. I then received a call on the 30th from Lindsay Lodewick who rudely told me that Discovery needed my bank statement, cellphone statement, credit card statement and they needed to visit the pothole in order to process my claim and it would take weeks to finalise. I then opted to withdraw the claim and get my car back since all I needed was tyers. She also didn't know where the car was insisting it was in Roodepoort. She then agreed to tow the car back to me and instructed Silindile to process. Silindile simply sent me an email stating she had instructed for the vehicle to be released by Pt Painters in wynberg. I called pt painters only to realise they had been closed since December 24. I went back to Silindile who just casually told me they needed to wait for January 14th when pt painters open to deliver my car back. How did they tow it there while pt painters was closed. And why cant they tow it back the same way. I am stuck without a car and with a claim that Discovery will not settle. Lindsay made me feel like a ******** when all i was doing was simply ask for my car.
