Dissatisfied

I put a claim through 6 months ago. My vehicles door was damaged by a driver that tried to overtake while my vehicle was turning. I fitted the excess, and knowing the other driver was at fault, as it was plain to see, expected to get my excess back or at least some type of communication from discovery concerning my excess. I received no communication until I had to call in 6 months later. I was then told that because my vehicle was turning right it was in that event difficult to claim from the other party even though the other driver overtook on a solid line??? Could they not have told me this 6 months ago, so the paperwork was probably sitting there doing nothing. I am not a person to complain but I am really disappointed and will be moving both my vehicles from discovery insure.
