Disgusting service
On Monday 19 September I had to log a claim for the very first time since taking out my current policy back in September 2020. After logging the claim I noticed an excess of R4500 to be paid. When I took out my policy it was for a zero basic excess (I have looked at my policy schedules to be sure). On 29 July 2022 I got an email informing me about a R1000 increase to the basic excess. Which I'm happy with because I was informed. So my excess for this claim should be R1000 and not R4500. Where in 2022 did the R3500 creep in??
For the last two days I've been struggling to get answers from Discovery Insure. Being sent from pillar to post.
I am cancelling my policy at the end of October. I am happy to find another insurer in the meantime.
This is unacceptable - nowhere have I been informed about changes to my basic excess. The worst is I have never ever claimed.

I dont know why in the first place I had to use a public platform such as Hello Peter to get help.
Just to let you know that your team eventually came back to me sending me an updated policy schedule. Also that I dont have to pay the excess on my claim, however its too late. I dont trust Discovery Insure . I have requested the claim to be cancelled as I'll rather pay for the repairs myself. Dealing with Discovery Insure is too painful.
Also I will be looking for alternative Insurance.
