My Wife was driving home and guy opened his car door into the street in front of where she was driving if she swerved she would have been in head on collision with another car This was recorded on Dash cam and supp**** to Discovery Damage front left panel Headlight and bonnet and front bumper And then both left doors with dents and scratches and mirror had scratch Internally fuse box needed replacement But here comes the thing it is less than 5 year old car with less than 39000k's and although the amount quoted by their panel better is less than write off amount by over R10k they wanted to force write off and pay out so that I get more than R15k less out than what I placed as deposit on the car 6 months ago So we fight it and they then say we can take the payout and fix it ourself So since their panel beaters quote was within the required payout I take it and they do not state major info just that the car must be inspected and they will not give rental car while it is being repaired that is my problem

So I have the panel beater they took it to proceed and wait the 4 weeks without a car because they took the rental back The panel beater they took it to does great job all perfect no issue job well done But now Discovery proves they have not discovered what they want They send me for Dekra report at my cost and even state it will cost R795 which is costs for roadworthy which peeves me off since it was their listed panel beater who did the job But Ok I go to Dekra and do the roadworthy which car passes 100% no issue Send it to them and then "Oh no this is not the test we want we want the other Dekra report" chat to guys at Dekra and they say depending on report it can cost R2500 So I ask Discovery which report because I did the one they listed And guess what they do not even know which report But its Ok because they want me to pay for all the reports they want even though they do not specify further but then reject the reports sent And now after whole day it comes out the report they want from Dekra will cost me R3000 after I paid for the initial report R795 and after the R5500 excess and another days leave to be able to take the car that is currently not insured through again If I get hijacked my problem if it gets stollen my problem because Discovery is unsure And this was only advised after everything

Discovery you are horrible insurer who clearly do not mind doing your customers in even though they were not the cause of the accident and had no way to avoid it The one thing is clear from this I must ask my insurance consultant to move me away from Discovery unsure

Maybe they should call their service Discovery Unsurance"
