Discovery trying to save cost, most inconvenience experience
I was in an accident on 30 October 2018. My car was accessed and sent for repairs. According to me and other parties opinions it was a right off but nonetheless I went with their decision. My car was sent for repairs to Lyttleton Spray painters. They took longer than confirmed with the repairs. I had a rental for 30 days. When we got to about 2 weeks I started following up with them on a regular basis to track the progress. I asked them very nicely and they promised to have my car fixed in time. Im a mother of 3 and have full time work which means I cannot sit without transport. 4 days after I had to return the rental I was contacted to collect my car. When I arrived their the colour of the back bumper was not the same as the rest of the car. They said they will fix it and gave me a curtousy car. That is another issue on its own but atleast I had transport. The excess would have been R8000 should something happen to the car. Not even a car rental company’s access is that much. I went to collect my car for a second time. The central locking did not work, they took the car back to fix. Then when I got in the car the doors indoor panel was loose. I had to wait again for them to fix it. This all happend after work. Again had to make arrangements for someone to pick up my kids from school. I left after an hour and a half rushing to pick up my kids and attend my son’s price giving. The next morning my car did not start. That is when my battery issues started. We Towed the car to battery centre. We connected a new battery but still nothing. The battery was not the issue then. I contacted Discovery and waited till 13:45 for someone to give me feedback on next step. After loads of phone calls to Discovery Dumi confirmed to phone back regarding avis car-half hour later nothing. Tow truck on their way to tow back to panelbeaters.
I sat at battery centre the entire day waiting and after many phone calls from me my husband and my broker they eventually arranged a rental car for me. The accessor then confirmed telephonically that the battery might have gotten hurt in the accident or while the car was at the panelbeaters for more than a month. They gave me a second hand battery. After a week I recieved my car I had problems with the battery again. I had to jump start my car every morning. By then the panelbeaters were closed. On 1 December when I got back from a long weekend away my car was dead. Discovery now say that the battery broke due to wear and tear and this is my problem. I would not recommend Discovery Insure as they use cheap panelbeater that does a terrible job. They tried to save costs by noth righting it off. The panelbeaters did not allign my bonnet properly, my aircon does not work most of the time. Discovery and lyttleton spray painters are now shifting blame to me. I had to take up to 5 days unplanned leave from work due to the fact that I did not have transport at several occasions. The entire experience was just terrible and all they say is they apologize for the inconvenience... Worse service ever!!
