Discovery tried to strongarm my car from me, and when they couldn't have it, they stripped it for parts.
After repeatedly trying to get my consultant to escalate my call to a more senior manager, I have had to turn to the Ombudsman.
After Discovery tried to write my vehicle off so that they could sell it for a profit - my bonnet blew up while driving and didn't even break the windscreen - I managed to get it back from them after three months.
My car arrived back with me having had the headlamps and headlamp housings, numberplates, oil and water caps, and dipstick ******. An external assessor has reviewed the case and I have over R10 000 additional damage done to my car since Discovery took possession of the vehicle.
In addition it was evident that my car was stored in the open, in the rainiest season of the year, without oil or water caps, and with no protection against the elements. The car is obviously additionally damaged - and will never be the same as it was when they took possession.
After multiple phone calls, and emails being ignored. And finally wrapping the debacle up after nearly 6 months (over 4 of which I didn't have a vehicle), I am taking my case to the short term insurance Ombudsman.
The worst thing I ever did for my car was insure it with Discovery.
You tried twice to contact me - once at 11:34am (I tried to call back and the number doesn't accept calls), and again at 15:03. As I have a job, and I have spent an inordinate amount of time on this already, I can't take calls during office hours.
I am happy to discuss it via email or here in public - alternatively if you would like, I can be available on Saturday morning to have a conversation telephonically or in person. Please confirm with me here or via email so that I can arrange to be available.
I've provided my claim number, my full name, and my ID number. You have full access to all the communications I have sent - and the details of my accounts and policies. You could have sent me an email, popped me a message or given me a call from a number I could reach you on.
Regards,
Tim D.

I can make myself available 17:30-18:30 on Monday 14 for a telephone call. I cannot take an additional call during office hours. I have booked that slot for an appointment with you.
I am also happy to deal with everything via email.

I waited at my phone for an hour for someone to call, and haven't heard anything.
I think you should email me, or give me a number I can contact you on.
