Discovery travel claim rejected because of the cause of my dad's death.

This is regarding my travel insurance claim with reference number: DIS-***-C.

We had booked a holiday to Egypt to celebrate my life partners 40th birthday, we were to depart on the 15th of September 2023 but on the 14th of September 2023 my dad had died, and this was the worst news that I could hear. Due to his death, we were not able to travel. I am a Hindu and there are religious requirements, and the holiday did not matter to me because the loss of my dad was too much to deal with. I booked my holiday with my Discovery Bank account and received free travel insurance. I had sent through all requested documents to submit my claim and the response from the claim's assessor Kathlin Govender was that they do not cover claims arising from vascular, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular conditions. The cause of my dad's death was heart attack. In my opinion the rejection reason used in my claim was taken out of context because I did not suffer from any heart conditions and the reason of us not going on our holiday was due to the death of my dad, the cause of his death should not be in any form be relevant to my claim.

I seriously expected more from Discovery, I had a traumatic event in my life, and I am still in disbelief that my dad is not around but now a travel insurance is making me relive this event in my life and blame my dad for passing away by a heart attack not to pay my claim, this is such a sad experience.

It seems to me that Discovery is in some financial problems and looking for any reason not to pay claims.

Please rethink your discission to either move over to Discovery or becoming a client of Discovery because they only seem to be interested your money and have no regard for you as a person.
