Discovery sources new bike after our one was ******, then want the bike back.

My sons mountain bike was ****** a few weeks ago from a shed on our property. A representative from Discovery told us that the company Riders at Work will handle it. Alain at Riders at Work communicated with us. Two weeks ago he let us know we would get a new bike at a similar value as the bike that was ******. Last week Wednesday we collected the bike and payed the excess fee and all was good. Last week Friday (two days after we collected the bike), Alain called and told me that Discovery was not going to pay more than R10 000 for the bike which is not even close to the value of the bike Alain had found for us.

How is it possible that Discovery let a company find a bike for us and gives it to us and then a few days after all is done, Discovery comes back and say they are not paying for it? Alain tells me that they need to send a driver to come and collect the bike. We were never informed that there was a cap on how much they would cover for the bike.

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply. My problem is not that I didn't know the fine prints. My problem is that Discovery sourced a bike for us. We even had to pay a small fee because we went for a slightly larger bike. The person handling the case from Discovery's side should have known about the R10 000 limit and not have let Riders at Work give us this bike. We paid for some alterations of the bike and my son drove the bike for two days and only after that Alain at Riders at Work contacts me to explain that Discovery is not going to pay more than R10 000.

If you agree to something, in our case even to pay some extra to get this bike, you cannot come two days after the deal is made to say that the deal is off.

Riders at Work was authorized by Discovery to get us a bike at the right value. The representative on your side made a mistake not informing Riders at Work about the R10 000 cap, and then you think it's okay to inform us two days after the deal has been made that there is no deal!!!

So bottom line is that Discovery Insure takes no responsibility for sourcing a company to making a deal for them (Riders at Work) and then go back on the deal two days after it has been made.
