Discovery Selling Clients Information

I used to be a client of Discovey Insure , and left them more than 4 months ago . Part of my reason was that , no one will ever recieve cash back with their app , and also , to get through to them , you have to enter your ID number , for which they penalise you when you use your phone while diving . But , i got a phonecall from Matrix Tracker , and found out that Discovey Insure has sold my number to them . Can anyone assist me with the rigth procedure to sue them ? It took me 4 hours of phonecalls as they keep n dropping the call when I explain to them my problem . I will also go to their Sandton office next week to make my point .

Good day Gawie

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and please accept our apologies for the delay in response.

When clients sign up with us, we do ask for their consent to share their details with our other companies. You may have agreed to this at the time, but you were always able to opt out at any time online, as confirmed in our email of 3 November. This consent only applies to the Discovery group of companies and Discovery affiliates, never to any non-related companies. Matrix Tracker is not one of Discovery’s affiliates so we would never have shared any of your details with them.

If a person's information is available in the public domain it would be easy for an adviser or leads provider company to access your information and sell this on to any interested parties. Unfortunately, we have no control over this and do our utmost to ensure the security of our client’s information within the Discovery group.

In order to avoid receiving unsolicited telemarketing calls, you can register on the Direct Marketing Association of SA (DMASA). Below are the details for DMASA:
