Discovery not following protocol for claim logged
My wife and i took out vehicle insurance for both our vehicles and when i spoke to the agent i was informed that my bakkie is insured for personal use, but should i need to use it for work i will not be penalize for it. While at work i had to go to Bellville station to do some personal business, my bakkie was broken into and all my tools were ******. I reported it to the police and Discovery and after claim was logged, Discovery logged it as attempted theft where police report clearly states that all my tools were ****** that amount to R8300. They now tell me that the can only cover for damage to my bakkie and my tools are not covered. We are with Discovery for about a year now, and my premium went up twice without any notification from Discovery that i feel is very unprofessional. Even when i requested the courtesy vehicle, they want to give me a small car where i drive a double cab bakkie, they told me i only qualify for a small car. If you send them email regarding the claim you only get the automated response to your email but nobody contacts you back. Futher more, from what i understand from insurance is that when you logg a claim, aren't you supposed to to send through at least 3 quotes for repairs where none was asked from us. We were just sent a message to say that the bakkie needs to go to this panel shop that they approved for the job for repairs which i feel is not right. Who said that i wanted that panel shop that i have no reference of, to work on my vehicle.
