Discovery Insure: When "Insurance" Means YOU Do All The Work – A Shameful Record of Dodging Payouts

My journey with Discovery Insure has been a consistent testament to how an insurance company can seemingly exist solely to avoid paying out legitimate claims. From baseless accusations to an outrageous claims process, their operational model appears designed to exhaust and deter policyholders.

My previous claim for a damaged television was met with an unfounded and frankly insulting denial, falsely attributed to "pet damage." This set a disturbing precedent, demonstrating their willingness to fabricate reasons to deny coverage.

Now, I am attempting to claim for two front tyres damaged by a significant pothole. What should be a straightforward application of my policy has devolved into an administrative absurdity. Discovery Insure has presented me with an extensive, borderline impossible list of demands.

The most egregious aspect of this entire ordeal is Discovery Insure's rationale: they claim they need information to pursue a claim against the government. This is the very crux of my outrage. I pay Discovery Insure substantial premiums precisely so that I do not have to personally navigate the complexities of claiming from a third party, let alone the government. That is their responsibility as my insurer, not mine. To then admit that these government claims are "hardly ever successful" adds insult to injury. They are imposing a monumental, often impossible, burden on me for a process they initiate and they admit is largely futile, all to avoid paying out on a valid claim under my policy.

This is not insurance; it is a sham. I pay Discovery Insure for peace of mind and financial protection. Instead, I receive endless bureaucratic hurdles and a clear indication that they expect me to do their job – to gather evidence for a claim they should be pursuing, if necessary, after they have honored their commitment to me, their paying client.

My trust in Discovery Insure is completely eroded. Their consistent strategy of making claims an adversarial process, whether through false accusations or by offloading their duties onto the client, proves they are not an insurer to be re**** upon. Prospective clients should be aware: with Discovery Insure, you're not just paying for coverage; you're apparently paying to do their job for them, with no guarantee of a payout in the end.

We're really sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Discovery Insure. It sounds incredibly exhausting and unfair. Insurance should provide peace of mind, not additional stress and hurdles.
