Discovery Insure, what a failure

I once again had the misfortune of having to lodge a claim with Discovery Insure.

Don't let the adverts with their so called technological advances fool you.

They have little to none to speak of.

I lodged a claim at the begging of August for building contents. The Energiser for the Electric fence had burnt out due to a power surge in July.

I cancelled the cover for my building at the end of July 2021. Thus I had a further 30 days to lodge the claim.

The Broker contacted Discovery on the same say that I sent him the report from the repairer. Two days later I followed up with him, as usual no-one from Discovery had contacted me to register the claim.

I received a call from Nelisiwe on Friday the 6th of August to process the claim. She advised that she hadn't received the fault report from the Broker, please could I send it to her again. I immediately sent it to her, phoned her back in five minutes to confirm that she received it, which she confirmed.

This is were the problem comes in, I don't have CURRENT building cover. I told her to check her system, I had cover in July. No, not according to her, according to her their fantastic system showed that I last had cover in 2019.

I then conference called the Broker who confirmed that I had cover.

She point blank refused and told him to take it up with Broker services.

On Tuesday the 10th of August I received a call from Sipho who once again wanted to register a claim, he received an escalation from Broker services....

I thought at least now the matter would be resolved, no such luck...

Once again I am told I don't have building cover.

Discovery have escalated the matter but never did anything.

It has now been almost two weeks and I am still unable to resolve my building claim for which I had cover!

Maybe they should stop parading adverts with actors having "good hair days " and taking **** selfies promoting a seamless claims experience and look at their system to see why a consultant cannot see what cover a policy holder had less than a month ago, maybe they should employ consultants who actually want to serve and help their policy holders.
