Discovery Insure - we don't help our clients.

What is an insurance company? In their adverti*****ts, they are "there for you, when you need them most" - not in this case. In the case of Discovery Insure - they are only there for you, if they deem it so. We have all of our insurance with Discovery Insure - household (for 2 properties) and car insurance. In the entire time we have had the insurance - we have tried to claim only twice - nothing exorbitant or massive. However in both instances we were told "wear & tear" or some other excuse for why they cannot assist. Brings me back to my original question - why have insurance then, if I'm going to pay for things myself anyway? If my claims were for malicious breakages or trying to de***** them or something to that effect - I could understand. The last claim broke the camels back as the saying goes. My gaming PC that I have - part of my home content insurance - failed after. This was after weeks on end of loadshedding that kept switching the PC off abruptly - so it WILL 100% cause "wear & tear" on the components. However when the PC finally gave it's last breath and I needed my insurance to "help" me - they simply decline stating "wear & tear" as the cause. DUH!!! Of cause things will break if Eskom keeps turning off the power. They sent out an electrician - firstly - who knew nothing of PC's. I tried to rectify the issue from my side - which I stated on the documents - then - without assessing the physical PC - we had to call them to find out the claim was decline. One would think that as advertised they are there for you - but don't be fooled - they are there for themselves and money only - they will never pay out when you need them the most - they are simply well dressed charlatans - trying to find any excuse not to pay for a claim, while happily taking your money every month. Needless to say, we will be looking to move ALL of our business away from Discovery Insure. Very deeply disappointed, soon to be ex-customer.
