Discovery Insure Shocking Service- no resolution after more than a month

I registered a claim for a blocked drain that flooded a bathroom and bedroom on 20 June 2021. it took a few day before anyone called me to arrange for a service provider to come out. Eventually a plumber came out to inspect but never had the equipment to flush the drain line. He said he would return once his equipment was fixed and did not. A builder came a few days later after I had to call discovery again to ask what was happening. The builder inspected the floor, took pictures and said they would come to back to replace the flooring. They never came back. Discovery did not call. I called again after another week and the claims agent said that there was an error on the system that prevented the service providers from being paid, which is why the claim had stalled. His supervisor apparently then cleared the error and he said it should all proceed then. 2 weeks passes and nobody called or came by. I called them again and the claims agent then spoke to the person handling the claim and told me that he said the claim was going to be rejected and I would be notified soon. I cannot possibly understand why it would be rejected, as a similar issue occurred in 2019, and they paid for it then. unfortunately the plumber they sent out then did not fix the blockage properly as it occurred again.

I have not received any notification from Discovery about a rejected claim or anything else.

i am really getting fed up with this terrible service. My family is on Discovery medical aid, I bank with Discovery and I am insured through them. I am seriously considering leaving Discovery entirely.

Hello there.

What you are missing is that the blocked drain caused flooding which damaged my flooring in the adjacent room. Also, the same issue was claimed for in 2019 and Discovery paid for the unblocking of drain and replacement of flooring. The plumber obviously did not repair the blockage properly as it happened again.

There is no reason why if you paid for it before, you should not do so again?

This is also a very small claim in the context of my monthly premiums which total close to R13k, so I am surprised by this response....

Regards
Glen
