Discovery Insure - ******* !!!

Discovery Insure. Never again What a ******* !!! My vehicle, a Honda Ballade 2011 in immaculate condition was caught in the floods that happened in Johannesburg on 9th October 2017. My vehicle was in very deep water almost up to the door level. Once I managed to get home safely, I noticed that a plastic Sump cover was hanging and dragging under my vehicle. The next morning, I noticed an oil patch under my vehicle. I contacted Discovery Insure, and was told to take the vehicle to an Assessment Centre in Bedfordview. The Assessor could not immediately tell what was wrong and said that the engine was ‘sweating’ A few days later, I was told to take my vehicle to Bredren Autobody in Meadowdale. I checked in my vehicle in on 24th October 2017 and received a rental vehicle as agreed. I was told it would take 3 to 4 days to assess the repairs. I never again heard from Discovery Insure or Bredren Autobody. I called Bredren Autobody on the 6th of November to be told that the repairs were not approved by Discovery Insure. I have tried calling Discovery Insure every day to speak to someone who can assist me as to why this is the case. I spoke to a call agent named Tshego who said they do not know why this is the case, but I must speak to a person by the name of Dunvan Landsberg on ********** 659. Nobody answers this number. I have been trying a few times every day. I then spoke to another call agent (I did not get their name) and was told that this is a very difficult person to get hold of… My vehicle has never had any leaks and has a full-service history from Honda Bedfordview. The last service was done in August 2017. I then received a call from Bredren Autobody on 08 November to tell me my vehicle is ready. They have just replaced the plastic sump cover but not done any other repairs as it was declined by Discovery Insure. Nobody from MY Insurance company (Discovery Insure) has contacted me to let me know what is happening. This is shocking service. I should never have changed over to them…. I called them again today, 09 November, and the phone rang for 17 minutes with no answer. Until it was cut off. I am seriously contemplating on cancelling the rest of the products that I have in my Discovery portfolio… Medical Aid, Discovery Invest, Discovery Life Insurance, Discovery Card and Vitality. What excuse will they have when the time comes to pay out on my RA or on my Life Cover at a later stage.

Good Day,

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. As we discussed telephonically , we will be taking the vehicle to a Honda dealer for a diagnostic and will provide you with feedback.
