Discovery Insure refuses to adjust premium based on nonsense rules.

My experience hasn't been too bad with Discovery Insure, however - when trying to see if I could get a lower premium for my mother they had told me that this would affect my "credit score" with insurers if I decided to go to another insurer. (Nonsense.) They also refused to work with me in lowering her premium due to it not being a year since we signed on. With my own insurers Santam, I can ask to lower my premium in any point in time and they have assisted me without an issue every time. Im not too sure if they are talking nonsense about this but it feels like nonsense to me as I can do it with Santam without issues. I believe they should work with us in lowering the premium especially after having issues with their tracker not working properly in the one vehicle and not recording trips since the moment we signed on. I gave them an extra star as they are always friendly on the phone. I think they just don't want to assist as lowering our premiums affect their commission. This is the second insurer that my mother has been with in the last 10 years + so she is a loyal customer if treated right.

Dear Discovery Insure,

I gave you the opportunity to amend the premium but you refused to do so, a short term insurance policy should be able to amend the policy at any point and time.

Despite this the main reason for cancellation is the lack of effort on your part to fix the vitality drive issues that the sensor was experiencing. Since the start of the policy we were laying complaints about it not picking up any drives, and every single time we were asked all the basic questions to see if the problem was on our side. It was not as the other car that used to be on the policy was working fully with no issues. It should be obvious that the fault re**** on the tracker. Among this, it should also be noted that someone’s havaal was also registered to my mom’s policy despite her not owning one.

Secondly the fact that one of your brokers in the retention department **** to us about short term insurance being viewed as a “credit score” which I found out from various other brokers to be absolute nonsense. This has made me question what other things Discovery insure will like about for the sake of money, or worse perhaps not paying out when claims are made.

I was willing to let the fact that you would not negotiate a lower premium slide, but the fact that we were paying for a service (vitality drive) that was not administered, and blatant lying from your retention department brought an ethical conundrum that I had to make public. The unwillingness to address both of these issues is very alarming.

I do hope Discovery Insure will take action in rectifying the behavior (lying) in the retentions department. And ensuring that vitality drive actually works for their customers.

We have moved based on Principle.
