DISCOVERY INSURE NIGHTMARE PART 2

I fetched my car from the panelbeaters this afternoon. It had been repaired after being in a collision 3 weeks ago. I inspected my vehicle and was happy with the bodywork that had been carried out. However, I noticed that the stainless side step on the left side of the vehicle, which had been badly damaged in the collision, had just been straightened and not replaced.

When I enquired as to why it had not been replaced, the manager of the panelbeating workshop advised me that he had submitted a request, and a price to replace the side step but that the request had been declined by Malcolm Collins of Net Assess and he, in turn, had been instructed, by Discovery Insure, to decline the request. When I asked as to why the request to replace had been declined, the manager told me that the part was not insured...

I was absolutely livid... I contacted Grayson-Lee Pillay from Discovery Insure who had been dealing with my claim & voiced my anger. He told me that the side step was classified as an accessory and had to be specified in my policy or order to be classified as insured. I told him that on taking the policy with Themba Zulu, the sales consultant who sold me the policy, this was never mentioned to me, and it also wasn't stated in my policy... I told Grayson that had this been mentioned to me, I would have agreed to insure the nudge bar & side steps on my vehicle as I have both. I also told that Grayson that these so-called accessories were on my vehicle when I took the insurance policy with Discovery Insure. My vehicle was also never inspected to ascertain any modifications to or add ons / accessories on the vehicle.

Discovery Insure insured a vehicle based on a base model without inspecting the vehicle for these add ons which add value to the vehicle. I also have a tow hitch, tow hitch extension, smash & grab tinting and roof racks... But Discovery Insure wouldn't know that because they've never seen my vehicle or had it inspected...

I am absolutely disgusted with the inefficiency & unprofessionalism of Discovery Insure. No communication on terms of the policy or policy changes but they are so, so quick to take your money every month...

This whole policy is based on inefficiency & lack of information communication.
