Discovery Insure Made Contact After Public Complaint — Then Went Silent Again

After lodging a detailed public complaint, Discovery Insure finally contacted me last week. I spoke to a representative who advised that I would receive feedback by Thursday, or at the latest Friday. As of today (Wednesday), I have received no update, no follow-up, and no communication. While yesterday was a public holiday, this silence extends beyond that and reflects the same pattern I have experienced throughout this matter.

For context, my complaint relates to Discovery Insure’s handling after my claim was rejected. The vehicle was returned to me in a worse condition, with missing parts, additional damage, and systems no longer functioning, resulting in unnecessary costs and ongoing safety concerns.

To make matters worse, Discovery has now made their responses on Hellopeter private, preventing me from replying publicly and forcing me to create a new post simply to document the continued lack of communication.

This has become a clear pattern: Discovery Insure only engages once a matter is exposed publicly, then reverts to silence. This is unacceptable customer service.

I am still awaiting the feedback I was promised. Until Discovery Insure provides a clear update and resolution, this matter remains unresolved.

Reviewer Update
Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, this is the same assurance I was given previously, and it has not resulted in any meaningful action or communication.

After my initial public complaint, I was contacted and explicitly advised that I would receive feedback by Thursday or Friday of that week. That deadline passed without any update. I then had to raise a second public complaint due to the continued silence. Now, once again, I am being told that the matter has been “escalated” and that I will be kept informed — despite this approach having already failed.

Apologies without follow-through do not resolve issues.
Escalations without timelines do not restore trust.
Assurances without action are meaningless.
I am still driving a vehicle that was returned to me in a worse condition than when it left, with missing parts and additional damage, and I have been forced to travel long distances in a car I do not feel safe in, purely because Discovery Insure has failed to communicate or take accountability.
At this point, I am no longer asking for apologies. I am asking for:
  • Clear feedback
  • A concrete update
  • Defined next steps
  • And accountability for what has already occurred

This pattern of responding only after public escalation, followed by silence, is unacceptable for any insurer — especially one that claims to prioritise customer service. I await a substantive update, not another generic response.

Thanks,
Thobeka
