Discovery Insure - From happy to disgruntled overnight

From a very happy customer, to a extremely disgruntled customer....overnight.

My vehicle is fitted with a tracking (DQ Tracker standalone) device through Discovery Insure. My vehicle started giving trouble by not starting after a couple of days not in use. The battery was tested (only 1 year old) but was reported as being 100%, including charging. I took the vehicle to a service centre and it was found that the problem is the tracking device draining the battery.

I emailed (28 Sept) Discovery Insure to arrange for a technician to test/replace the faulty unit, on which i received a replay that I need to call the call-centre. I did that, just to give the operator the exact information as per my initial email. The operator informed my that the systems just went down and I need to call back in 45 minutes. (note, not that they will call me back, but I must call them again .....holding another 7 minutes, just to repeat the same story to another operator - mind you, holding 7 minutes for a call to be answered at a call centre is probably not too bad). She did however managed to do something as i received a sms with a link to make an appointment with the tracking vendor - link does unfortunately still not work.

On Monday 5 Oct I phoned the call centre again, and the operator informed me that he will phone me back in 45 minutes, as they first need to test the device for faults from their side. Needles to say, 4 days later and no call received. I emailed Discovery again on the 7th with my complaint - an automated response was received with ref no: ***. This email has unfortunately been flatly ignored by Discovery as no feedback whatsoever was received up to this point.

Where to from here? Too soon to report to the Ombudsman, but the damage to my vehicle's electronic systems and battery will probably cost me more than the fine Discovery charges for removing the tracking device.
