DISCOVERY INSURE ENDORSES RENEW-IT AUTO FOR THEFT AND TALL TALES

On the 23rd January 2017, I was hijacked outside my home. Thankfully my vehicle was recovered shortly afterwards. The hijackers had ****** the key to the vehicle making it necessary for the vehicle locking system to be replaced. My vehicle was sent to Renew-It-Auto Edenvale for the installation of a new locking system.

The 3-month process of having the vehicle locking system installed, a process that should have taken 14 days, was fraught with many tall tales and delays. Each time I contacted the Discovery Insure Call-Centre, I was met with reasons such as; ‘The locking system needs to be ordered from Germany.’ After the first six weeks, I found that the locking system had not even been ordered!!!

Eventually 3-months later, during which time I had to endure numerous insufferable calls about my courtesy car needing to be returned and me having to explain that the process had been delayed by Discovery Insure and Renew-It Auto Edenvale, I was finally informed that I could fetch my car.

Upon inspection of my car, it became apparent that there were newly acquired scratches on all the doors of my vehicle, a large scratch on the inside of the driver’s door, a chip in the bonnet and a nest of ants in the vehicle interior. I was informed that all these issues would be addressed prior to me fetching my car on the 9th May 2017. This was not the case. I was in fact forced to remove my car from Renew-It Auto Edenvale and informed that the Discovery Insure would compensate me for the damages.

As if this wasn’t enough to contend with, shortly after fetching my vehicle, the emergency light lit up and I took my car to Mercedes Benz to be assessed. There I was informed that a headlamp and headlamp bracket were missing. I also received E-toll bill demonstrating that my vehicle was being used during the 3-month period.

Since January, I have made countless calls to the Discovery Insure Call Centre and I have yet to receive a reasonable explanation for the theft of vehicle parts, additional damage incurred to my vehicle while at Renew-It-Auto Edenvale or the use of my vehicle. Where is the accountability?
