Discovery Insure device not connecting with Huawei P20

Changed from a Samsung S5 to a Huawei P20 and now I have very erratic recording on my Discovery Insure app for rewards. Read some research and they state that the Bluetooth device used in the Huawei is of a inferior quality to the Samsung and therefore this issue cannot be resolved. Just putting it out there that my Huawei has no problem connecting to my Garmin Forerunner 735XT, Shox Bluetooth speaker and JBL wireless headphones. Can you advise if Discovery are working on a solution to this or am I stuck in a 2 year cellphone contract which does not work with my insurance tracking device as the only reason I took the more expensive insurance was for the cost advantage I was receiving for excellent driving behavior.
