Discovery Insure closes case without all repairs being completed on vehicle - claims nightmare
I highly do not recommend Discovery insure for car insurance. I had been warned by friends when I first signed on with Discovery Insure, nevertheless I gave a chance and learned the hard way when I claimed. They look for excuses not to get your car repaired. I dealt with Theo Mokhine and requested to speak to his manager as he is highly biased in his thinking and this can be picked up from the responses in emails and telephonic conversations. He refused point blank to pass me on to his superiors. I have experienced a long-term battle with Discovery Insure from October 2017 in repairing my car. This insurance looks for excuses not to restore your car back to its original condition before the accident. They insult clients and make them feel responsible for the accident. They also blame them for the poor repairs performed to their car by the panel beaters (in this case Precision and Sons, Centurion), this panel-beater is listed as a repairer on their panel. My steering/front suspension has not been repaired from the date (mid July 2017) it was involved in the minor accident and Theo insists on closing the case (he had sent me an email stating this). I had also submitted a report from Suzuki Centurion that confirmed the steering rack issue to Theo. His attitude towards my claim has been negative and not willing to hear my thoughts on the claim. He also had an assessor from Discovery (Solomon) look at my car to assess the repairs after it went in to Precision and Sons, the assessor agreed with me that the body repairs required attention on my premises. After reported to Theo, Solomon had changed his mind on this issue and stated there is nothing Discovery can do and looked for excuses not to rectify my car’s paint work. Now, he continues to ignore my emails. The paintwork on the right side of the car is not consistent the colour is uneven. This whole situation is a nightmare and very frustrating as one would think that we are paying for an insurance and that if our vehicle was involved in an accident the car would be restored to its original state with no issues from their insurer. Discovery Insurance has caused me stress and countless hours discussing this issue with Theo Mokhine, I had also taken off from work to accommodate the numerous times it went in for repairs. I also called in to the call centre to make a complaint or report the issues I experienced several times; the call was dropped and Aubrie the last consultant I spoke to on 15 March 2018 dropped the call and didn’t return any of my calls. I have also paid an excess which has not been returned. The accident was not my fault and the incident were reported to the SAPS. There were also other cars (other witnesses) involved in the accident, the truck that caused the accident was the guilty party. Photos and details of the other party were submitted to Discovery Insure for investigation.
