Discovery Insure can't resolve sunroof damage

I am insured by Discovery insure. Went on 01 November 2016. Polikcy number ********** 933. The only reason I have rated them at one is because there is no zero rating. Their claims department is useless and urine impoverished. Due to the lateness of my problem I am enduring them as an insurer through December 2016.

Will not recommend them to anybody. If somebody wants irritation and uselessness personified, then by all means.

On Monday 21 Novemebr 2016 an object broke the glass on my sunroof. My vehicle is a 2008 Honda Accord 2.0 Executive with sunroof as a factory standard.

I called the same day to register a claim. Was told I did not inform Discovery Insure that my vehicle had a sunroof. I told them it was standard issue on that vehicle and that I did not need to declare it as an optional or additional feature on the vehicle. They did no due diligence to verify this.

I ended up getting documented proof of the specifications on the vehicle showing the sunroof was standard issue. I sent a quotation from Honda to replace the glass. All documentation was submitted by Tuesday 22 November 2016 11h31.

Despite calls to query and inquire, nobody at Discovery Insure is commitng to replacing the glass on the factory fitted standard issue sunroof.

I have not been contacted by their claims department depite me sending several follow up mails. I have no option but to replace the sunroof glass out of my pocket and then engage in a fight with this lousy corporate.

The only assitance I receive from Discovery Insure was from their salesman who provided the quotation and basically sold me the policy.

Given their lack of commitment and integrity shown, I am not even expecting them to respond to this complaint via your forum.

Dear Darrell
We apologize for any frustration caused. We can confirm that there's no claim logged for the incident in question.
While the vehicle came standard with the sunroof, it is still considered an extra. Our view of this is not different to how the rest of the industry views it. In addition to asking if you have extras at sales stage, we also have a recommendation regarding covering of extras in the plan guide sent to you at inception, please refer to section 7.6.1

You refer me to section 7.6.1 which has the heading: Extra equipment fitted to the standard model of your vehicle.
The first line states:
You must let us know if any extra equipment has been fitted to your vehicle and the specified value that you want to insure this extra equipment for.
If you want to refer me to a clause in the contract, at least show the intelligence to understand its application. My standpoint is, and will remain, that the particular model of Honda Accord insured by Discovery was fitted with the glass sunroof as standard. Standard by its very definition means it was fitted as a standard for the particular model in question and therefor does not qualify as extra equipment fitted, either factory or after market.
The content of your mail is simply put bovine faecal matter. Kindly identify the context of my disagreement.
Kindly remove your head from your sphyncter. The sun roof was factory fitted. I do not deny this. The sunroof was standard issue on the model in question. How could I possibly declare something fitted as standard to the model of a vehicle as an extra?
In that case do you want me to declare the glass sunroof, heated leather seats, integrated steering wheel, electronically adjusted front seats, six CD front loading radio as extras due to the fact that other manufacturers had these avaialble as extra equipment on their vehicles.
For the record, the non-standard items I have on the vehicle are a tow bar, I-pod adaptor and smash and grab tint, which I chose not to delare as extra equipemnt.
7.6.1 further states:
Where the equipment was not fitted by the vehicle manufacturer as standard factory-fitted equipment proof of purchase and ownership must be given to us to help us process your claim.
The damage incurred by me was for a glass sunroof that Honda had provided on that particular model as standard factory-fitted equipment.
Do yourself a favour and go back to the content of my complaint. I stated that the sunroof was standard issue on the vehicle. To simplify this for you the vehicle came like that without costing the buyer any extra.
Feel free to contact me telephonically to resolve this. Or rather get your line manager or somebody who can read and understand the content of my complaint to contact me.
My contact details are onmy policy details that you have readily available.
