Discovery Insurance lost my car for 3 weeks
I was in an accident end Nov and phoned them from the accident do that they could get the 3rd party details. My vehicle was towed away and then the assessor phoned me yo come see the vehicle only 3 weeks later. Seems the vehicle was lost in their system. I provided them with the case no and photos from the scene of the accident plus the 2 people's names and cell nos which I took down. After another month when querying about the excess I was told they could not contact the 3rd party. The parts fir the repairs were delayed due to covid and festive season, but the vehicle rental then wanted to penalize me R850 and daily rental vehicle and the rental had not been extended. When trying to email the Discovety Consultant dealing with the rental the emails returned undelivered and the phone number no longer exists? Feedback from the consultants is shocking and at times just non existent. Even my broker was not able to get proper communication from the Discovery Consultants. I decided to contact the 3rd party who drove into the back of my vehicle and they answered immediately. With one day they were arranging payment with the Discovery Consultant who had apparently used tracing agents who could not contact the 3red parth in 2 months. The stress of this process was worse than the stress of the accident. I eventually told them to keep the vehicle and I don't want it back as I had to pay a deposit for vehicle rental and then they wanted me to pay the excess for the repairs and the delays of the parts and repairs....all just yo much that I had to deal with as even my broker was unsuccessful in getting proper feedback from Discovery. I requested Head of Claims to contact me and still no feedback. Maybe I should change insurance companies but Discovery reputation has not lived up to what i thought they were all about and I'm very disappointed to say the least.
