Discovery Insurance and it’s third party ******! Agony Agony Agony.

Revised assessment reports that don’t exist for vehicle repair and **** parts being used on an Iphone by the assessors.

Discovery Insurance has caused me so much agony, and there are no repercussions for its third-party repairers, so I have to suffer in the long run!????

Vehicle: Suffering losses up to the present

My vehicle was involved in an accident, and Discovery and NetAssess assigned Body-Tech 2000 as the repairer in June 2022. The worst mistake I've ever made was when I had to do the following up on my vehicle, as I had not received any feedback and update from either party. I was advised that by around July 21st I would receive my vehicle.

The repairer kept on saying there were delays on parts, but only a few parts were ordered, and not all "were not ordered" according to the assessment report. Nissan South Africa advised me to ask for the order numbers as I suspected something fishy with how the claim was being handled. Body-Tech 2000 did not provide this information when I was querying them during this time.

On the day of collection of the vehicle in mid-August, the repairer tells me that an error has appeared on the dashboard. How they did not pick this up during initial assessment baffles me, because they stripped the vehicle and it tells you if the sensors are damaged. These guys started the car every day, ignored the warning sign, and yet say they identified the issue on the day of collection.

I pleaded with Discovery to take my vehicle to another panel beater as I did not trust Body-Tech 2000, as they did not want to provide the information required to check if all the parts were bought. Discovery decided to give me a rental vehicle until the vehicle arrived, as I was losing money every day with alternative modes of transport, and asked me to leave the car with Body-Tech 2000.

Body-Tech had assigned Nissan CMH in Sandton/Hyde Park to deal with sensors. They delayed it for a week to just run the assessment on the sensors. I kept calling for feedback and eventually got a nasty response from CMH telling me to stop calling because I was not their client, but Body-Tech was.

I received a message from the vehicle rental company asking me to return the vehicle as it was only for 30 days. Discovery assured me I would have the vehicle ready by September 19–22, I advised them that I was not told it would be kept for the 30 days and not until completion of work. My mother was in ICU from an accident that occurred during that weekend.

The vehicle claims team lead (Maureen) did not give me a call during the initials complaints, even when she was asked to do so during the initial complaints. However, on the day I was querying the return of the rental vehicle, she was ready to tell me that it’s not Discovery’s or the repairers' fault that I am in this position and that I was being dishonest about the car rental. Nissan's delays are the cause, shifting blame from the insurer to the policyholder. Her tone felt like the insurance company was doing me a favour. I requested the recordings and I did not receive them until today. I suffered more losses because of Discovery.

Nissan CMH took a long time to resolve the issues with the sensors when they received the parts, and I only received the vehicle on the 28th of September 2022. When I collected the vehicle, I already noted issues with repairs.

• The front lights were polished instead of replaced as per the assessment. The scratches were still there. According to the assessment report, it was supposed to be replaced. The manager at Body-Tech said it was a revised assessment approved by the insurance to polish the light. I called the insurance company for this revised assessment report as I did not trust the panel beater and Discovery said it did not exist. • During the paint work, the sports bar was somehow affected and ended up having large scratches. These were never there. • I decided to go for a check/assessment at the dealership where I bought the vehicle to see what other issues might be there. They picked up that the wheel alignment was not done and there were scratches on the bonnet. There were no scratches on the bonnet; the vehicle was still new.

Cellphone repair issue.

My iPhone 13Pro had a damaged camera glass, and the Hauwei had a cracked display in September 2022.

Discovery advised that their appointed assessor, Chata-Tech, who was appointed somehow appointed with Samsung Service Centre in Pretoria, Brooklyn, do the assessment.

The assessor advised me that both devices would be repaired by their respective manufacturers, Apple Istore and Huawei.

When the phones were returned, I noticed something strange about the glass and untidy glass being put together there. I decided to go directly to Istore to ask for an assessment on the phone repair. They also noticed the **** glass and showed me the following: • Chata-tech/Samsung Service Centre went to Apple Istore for a quote and rejected the quote, saying the client did not want the phone fixed at the store. I called the insurance company to ask how much they were charged by the assessors. To my shock, it came up to +-R12,600, which is more than what Istore quoted to repair the glass correctly. This has already affected my trade-in value of the device that I got this year. Plus, putting a **** part on the device? • Discovery asked me to give the assessors a chance, and I refused, demanding another device and asking for the voucher. I was insured for retail value, but it was not the current retail price Istore was charging. At this point, I was sick and tired of fighting with Discovery. I didn’t even go to Hauwei to check if the same had occurred, because I already knew that I would be faced with the same problems.
