Discovery Assessor Tricking you so he can reject your claim.

Good day,

I would suggest that clients do not use Discovery Insure as they find reasons not to pay your claims and even go as far as black mailing you to not have to pay out your claim please see what happened from our experience.

On the 22nd of November my claim was rejected verbally due to ********** means under the following reasons: - I was unable to describe certain items claimed for properly. - The signed letter i wrote stating certain objects were not ******.

To explain to you why the above reasons are not valid, i need to explain my meeting with the assessor from the beginning. When the assessor Johan Van staden got to my house to assess the ****** goods, he told me this meeting will be recorded, He did not tell me at the beginning of the meeting that anything i say or write would be held against me. The recording of the meeting should be 2 hours and 20 minutes and if its not it has been cut.

The assessor walked through my house taking a few photographs and then asked me to describe items im claiming for,as i was describing the items the assessor was on his phone looking up what the items looked like. I gave him a Liberty USB with all the photos and proof of the items im claiming for. He then said to me that i need to Re look at the items im claiming for or he is going to walk, which he said quite a few times.

When we were in my bar area he said that the alcohol could not have been ****** because any common ***** would rather take my big bottles of alcohol and that i rather consumed the items im claiming for. I did tell him that two of the bottles im claiming for i suspect the police had taken it.

Because i couldn't tell him the make of our shredder or how my fiances play station 3 operates, he said i could not have owned them and had added it to the list. He again mentioned that if i do not adjust my claim he was going to walk and reject my claim fully.I can bet you not everyone can explain and remember the make of every item in their house. My broker had been to my house before the incident and had seen more or less every item i had claimed for.

The laptops i could also not explain properly, because he asked me where the on and off button for the lenova and Dell laptops was. The Dell belonged to my Fiance and the Lenova Belonged to my Daughter who left it by me when she went over seas. He then said that she must of taken it with her and i said he is welcome to call and ask her. I was looking for the book on the printer and there was a book on a HP Notebook laptop. He said maybe you had the HP Notebook and not one of the other laptops,I told him that The HP Notebook was a old work laptop and that i now have the Asus as a work laptop that i used in front of him.

We then discussed the Dorcel coffee machine, he said you do not get a coffee machine called Dorcel and no one would claim for something like that. I then showed him all the boxes of capsules for the coffee machine which he took a photo of.He then told me once again that i must Re look at what im claiming for or he was going to walk and reject my claim. He handed me a paper to write down items to take off the list, Because it was only a few items and i didn't want him to reject my whole claim i did the letter.I told him i was illiterate so he then proceeded to write word for word in his black diary what he would like me to say.

I latter found out that assessors get paid to reject claims and he had worded the letter in such away that he could reject my claim for ********** means. Only after he made me write the letter and after the meeting did he state that the claim could be rejected and anything i say or write could be held against me.

My broker was also the one to tell me that i do not need to specify any items in the house as it is all covered. The day my claim was rejected i phoned my broker straight away and straight after that my fiance was let go as she was his assistant, so this is not only how you treat your clients this is how you treat your staff.

I Have laid a complaint with Discovery and i have asked them to analyse the recording and to send out a new assessor to speak to all members of the household so they may describe their items ****** and claimed for however i do not see getting and help from Discovery's complaints department, But i will taking this to the ombudsman as i feel i was *********ed and ******* into committing ***** for items that were actually ****** so that they could reject my claim.

Should Johan Van Staden be sent out to assess your claims, you should refuse and ask for a different assessor.

Kind Regards. David M. Reynolds.
