Discovery appointed supplier takes 14 WEEKS to repair RADIATOR and breaks the car! Discovery missing in action, presumed dead?
On the 30th of January, my car struck an object in the road and the radiator was damaged. A claim was submitted to Discovery and approved on the 6th of February. The car was collected and taken to Brooklyn Automotive Refinishers (BAR). After 2 weeks the car still had not been fixed and Discovery (graciously) extended my car rental by another 2 weeks. After 4 weeks I confronted BAR about not getting a radiator fixed in this time and I obtained a courtesy car from them. When lockdown happened, the car was with them for SEVEN WEEKS - to REPAIR A RADIATOR! On 1 June BAR collected the courtesy car "to have it serviced". They said that my car will be fixed by Wednesday 3 June. On the 2nd of June I found the car at Rautomech in Steve Biko Rd. It had been taken there by BAR as a "non-runner" at the beginning of May. According to Rautomech the car had been damaged by BAR and tow of the injectors were unfastened when they got the car running. I find this situation confusing, as Discovery contracted BAR to repair a broken radiator. Just the excess of R3500 would have paid for two radiators if I did it at another supplier. Now I am stuck without a car, and no-one from a senior Discovery position is addressing this as far as I can see. Why would injectors be taken out to repair a radiator? Why was the vehicle a "non-runner" when it was "a runner" when towed away after striking an object in the road? Why is this my problem? I did not appoint BAR to fix the car? Why should I suffer without a car after 14 weeks to FIX A RADIATOR?????
