Delayed processing and finalization of claim

In my 4 years with Discovery Insure, this is the worst claim process I have ever experienced. I had to consistently try to get updates from my claims administrator with no luck (emails attached). I understand there was miscommunication with the assessor and the process that had to be undertaken but a courtesy call would have made sense to me to know about the delays. I only heard the voice of my claims administrator for the first time on the 19th April 2018, when he had finalized the claim and that’s was when I explained all the details of the incident of 23rd March 2019 for the first time to him.

I have an outstanding matter of having my car hire expired on 23rd April 2018 and has not been extended as promised. I was not responsible for delaying the assessment process.

Interestingly, the claims administrator who promised to get back to me on monday 23rd April 2018 is not responding to me. I am now faced with an overdue fee for the car rental. SIGH!!!

Today is the 2nd June 2018,guess what feedback was never directly provided to me. Thankfully, the car hire was extended by a further 2.5 weeks and I returned it back to Avis Sandton on 09th May 2018. At this point in time, I am no longer sure if Discovery Insure is deliberately ignoring my emails logged with them: 1. The rental car was checked out from Avis Polokoane on the 24th March 2018, and I made it clear to Thabang who was assisting me that it will be impossible for me to return the car to Polokoane once the rental expires. Avis now charged me a 1-way fee for returning the car at a different branch. I sent the invoice to Discovery, and its been over 2 weeks with no response in refunding me the 1-way fee. Will I be getting refunded or not? If not, what are the reasons? MailRef# ********** 599# 2. The claim was approved and authorised to a service providers that is over 300KM away from me. I never got valid reasons why the vehicle is not being repaired closer to me around Gauteng. I have tried to get feedback from Thomson's body for the last 3 weeks and nothing satisfactory thus far. I even wrote an email to both Thomson's and Discovery Quality Motor assessor(since 25th May 2018) to get feedback, still no response. I have had to use my own resources to find out what is actually happening with the repairs, and when I visited Thomson's Body the vehicle has not been touched since towed to their facility. Its been 2 months since the accident, both Thomsons Body and Discovery Insure have not been able to tell me when my vehicle will be repaired. Conclusion: I have lost faith in the service provider appointed to fix my car, who's reason for not starting repairs on the car has been waiting for parts. I didnt know it took over 5 weeks to get car parts for VW Polo that gets built in the country and that is over 3yrs old. I hope Discovery can get back to me and release the vehicle from Thomson's body and select a service provider in Gauteng with a better reputation.

Unfortunately I have to relog this again after a frustrating 3 months with regards to the way my claim was handled by Discovery Insure. After waiting for 3 months on repairs to be completed on my vehicle, the repairer appointed by Discovery Insure has done unsatisfactory work on my car. Upon collection of the vehicle on friday, 19th June 2019 a lot of major defects were noted. I logged a list of my complaints with Discovery Insure on monday morning to be escalated to their Quality Motor Assessor on the repairs done by Thomsons Body is Polokwane (which is by the way over 350KM from my residence). To date, I have not received any feedback from Discovery after repeated calls to their consultants who dont even have anything to tell me on the way forward. Preveshen who handled my initial complaint and who clearly asked me to go through with regards to my claim is no longer responding to my correspondence. To make this more painful, the claim has been finalized as completed yet the car was not completely fixed and came with new defects. My expectation was for at least the Quality Motor Assessor to schedule another assessment so that my complaints can be ratified. At the moment I have in my possession a vehicle with the following: 1. Damaged front fender that was not repaired 2. Scratches on the body work 3. New fitted window that was fitted with stock stickers protruding 4. Defective car battery 5. Glasses still coming out of the aircon vents The continued silence from Discovery makes me wonder if VW genuine parts were used on my vehicle by the repairer. Hellopeter please help.

Thanks to Preveshen Naidoo and Florence Maditshaba, my 4 months of going back and forth with Thomsons Autobody has come to an end. My vehicle is fixed to my satisfaction, and I can now drive in a satisfactory vehicle. Your efforts are highly appreciated
