Delay in Car Repairs and unsatisfactory customer care.
I was involved in an attempted hijacking on the 30th January 2017 and my car was badly damaged. I then went to report the incident to the police and had the car towed by a discovery approved tow service on the same day. I received my case number and submitted in to Discovery on the 3rd January 2018. I was given a courtesy from Avis a on the 3rd January and my claim was authorised on the 4/5th January and I was told my car would go in for an assessment the following week. By the 8th the assessment was done and a p Repair service elected as CK couch works in Tokai. They called me on the 9th to say the car was in their premises and parts were ordered so repairs would begin once the parts have been secured, I called them to check a few days later and they said the parts were there, they were waiting for a work bay so repairs could begin. I got worried when they stopped calling about updates so I called them around the 25th of January as I was worried that my car hire was getting close to expiration . I was told that they did not have my car there. I should try other branches, after calling around I tried them again and they said they had written my registration number wrong hence they could not find it on the system. They informed me that my car had extra damages so they are waiting for approval from discovery. A few days later I called Discovery to complain and they told me that the extras were app**** for the day before and will wait for the manager's approval, they extended my car hire by seven extra days and instead of the 2nd February, I would then return the car on the 9th. CK coachworks promised that my car should be done by then, but a week later, it wasn't. I then complained to Discovery again and they said they could not extend my car hire anymore so I would have to make alternative arrangements. I then asked if they could atleast let me rent the car I already had at their rates and they said this could not be done. I had to return the car and take it as a private renter. I work in a place where public transport is not available hence I have the car. I just read a similar story here where this happened to another discovery client and he/she was allowed to rent at the reduced rates. Why could this not be done for me? I asked about it from discovery and they said it could be done, but when I went to Avis cape town, they told me they cannot do it. They don't even know how. I currently have the Avis car as a private renter from friday last week until tomorrow, the 16th, and I had to pay a higher deposit and rates on an automatic car. I am very unhappy about this treatment and even today, when I call CK coachworks they were not sure if they will be able to have my car ready by tomorrow. Discovery, please intervene. Should I not have my car by tomorrow then it means I will have organize transportation to work with no real idea as to when I will have my car back.
