Contents not insured

I had a burglary on 29 December 2024. They entered my home via the roof to cut the alarm wires and proceed to take electronics, jewelry, etc. Discovery is telling me that my jewelry that was taken from a locked safe is only insured at a third of the sum insured. This is not a benefit limit on my policy. Discovery tells me to follow a link to a benefit limit document which they amend at any given day. This is not a valid legal agreement between me and Discovery. My policy states: "All jewellery and watches per item, pair or set that exceed R 50 000 per item in value, which are not specified under the portable possessions section, must be kept in a locked safe when not in use." This is a warning to every person to reconsider insuring your contents with Discovery. To make things worse, any other item taken needs a photo as proof of ownership, even after supplying serial numbers. I have never had a problem like this when claiming from Outsurance in the past. I feel cheated by Discovery as I was assured by them I was fully covered for my contents. I have posted a couple of weeks back, but received no phone call nor feedback.

Your calculations regarding my jewelry coverage are not in line with the terms stated in my policy. Your plan guide has never been communicated to me before my claim, nor is it available to download with my insurance documents. This guide is a link that can be amended at any given day. The proof shows when seeing the content page has the incorrect page numbers. It is not a valid legal document between me and Discovery. Your limits should be clearly outlined in my policy for it to be valid.
