Claims experience

My wife and I woke up at 1am on a Sunday morning to the sound of water pouring down from our passage ceiling onto the wooden floor. The cause was a burst geyser. This happened at a the worst possible time when my wife and I were already drowning in other stresses and struggling to keep our heads above water (excuse the pun). Having never made a claim with Discovery Insure before, I didn't even know where to begin and felt overwhelmed. There was no need for this, however, because one phone call to Discovery Insure Emergencies on that same Sunday quickly revealed what a fluid and efficient service they provide. A plumber was sent to assess the geyser the very same day, and a replacement arranged and installed the next day (Monday). Contractors were sent to assess the water damage and schedule an appointment to repair the ceiling on the Tuesday.

We are so grateful, firstly to Discovery's Emergency call centre operator who took our call and reassured us on the Sunday, and then also to Michelle Van Zyl from Discovery Insure Building Claims, who took over the claim once it was de-escalated from emergency status. She co-ordinated the services of the plumbers and contractors, and stayed in constant communication to ensure that things were being done as they should. We were blown away by what was surprisingly a stress-free and positive experience considering everything that had transpired.
