Claim rejected for no reason
On 7 December 2018 my husband reversed into my car, it was parked across the road from our house as it was hot and I wanted my car in the shade. After a long stressful day for my husband after his work burnt down, he had to go help a friend. He reversed his bakkie without realising my car was parked there - because it's not usually there. I phoned Discovery Insure immediately, I explained to the consultant that I had not been outside to check if my car was driveable and what all the damage was. My husband tried to drive it the next day to work but the bumper was rubbing against my back tyre which is also where the petrol tank is situated. We also noticed the day he drove it that the aircon was now blowing hot air and we just had it serviced about 2 weeks ago with new filters, topped up for gas and did a leak check and all was good. My husband and I phoned Discovery, first me and then he had to as the first time the request for the Tow Service was not logged. On Monday 11 December my car was collected by the Towing Service. When the towing service collected my car I showed him my front bumper has paint splints on it on each side of my number plate and it was bought that way, I have never driven into any other vehicle or object. I then only noticed that on the front passenger side of my bumper it had a slight gap, when the car was reversed into it could only have hooked on a rock that my neighbour has on his side of the pavement which is opposite our houses. There is no ding, the is no scratch, I don't need a new bumper I merely need to have it clipped back on or maybe a clip broke from the incident. We had to do a full check before he left with my car, I also told him about the aircon and he said Dals will have to check that out. We only then got our claim email on Wednesday 13 December. After hearing nothing from Dals we had to phone and find out what was going on, we were told they are not doing any new jobs and are closing for the December holidays on 22 December and reopening on 8 December. All this time I've been without a car, with 5 kids and during the holidays. Dals couldn't even offer a courtesy car over this period and I don't have cover on my insurance for a hired car. I had to ask Dals a few times over a few days since they opened to please not forget to check the bumper and aircon. They finally sent in their report and Discovery rejected these 2 claims on the car, although they had approved the quote for the damage that was very visible on my back bumper. My husband phoned Discovery and they said my bumper was old damage and the aircon we actually have no idea what the story is with that. On Friday 12 January 2018 my husband phoned Discovery to have this quote escalated, he spoke to Bianca in Claims. She advised this was done, well it was not and only on Wednesday 17 January 2018 my husband finally got through to Claims and while he was on the phone the consultant processed the escalation for the claim on the aircon. My car is almost done with repairs at Dals, or so we are told. I need the aircon fixed, and we have told Discovery this is urgent but 24 hours later and not a word from them again. I have never ever had issues with Discovery Insure, but this is simply ridiculous. I feel as if I am being treated like I have **** and trying to claim for damage on my car that I had nothing to do with nor is it old damage. If I had other damage to my car I would have phoned the insurance to see if it was covered but that is and has never been the case.
