Claim rejected

I’ve logged my first claim after being with the insurer for almost 3 years. My claim was rejected, household appliances – fridge, because of wear and tear. I’ve had the fridge for 15 years, and the call centre operator suggested that I should have maintained it better, and Discovery Insure cannot be held liable to pay a claim when wear and tear is involved. This, even though there is no mention of wear and tear on household appliances in my insurance plan schedule. It is utterly frustrating and disappointing that they did not approve my claim.
