Claim from 16-Nov-2015, car still not fixed
Within 2hours of the accident I was involved in on 16 Nov 2015, I submitted full details, photos, reported it at the policy station and provided everything needed to start the process. I was never offered a rental car but luckily realised that it is part of my insurance policy and insisted on a car which was arranged a week after the accident. According to the policy I was supposed to receive a rental car on the same day. After many delays at Discovery's incompetence and lack of communication with suppliers and customers, I was notified today that the panel beater, Danmar Auto should have my car ready after 12 Feb. I was patient for over two months right up to the point when I was told to return the rental car on the 1st of Feb because THEY WILL NOT EXTEND IT FURTHER. Please help me to understand. Everything regarding the claim was done from my side and I pay my premium every month. Is it okay for a claim to be delayed by almost 3-months at the insurance providers error? Should I be the one who is suffering the inconvenience? I travel from the Westrand to Sandton everyday. Is there anyone who can help me with a lift until my car is fixed please? It may only be next year.
Thank you for your comment.
We confirm the telephonic discussions with Hannes this morning and our continuous efforts to expediting the completion of the vehicle repairs. Whist we can appreciate your frustrations with the waiting period as results of parts in back order, we are unable to extend the car hire facility further.
The terms of the policy does allow car hire benefits to the maximum of 30 days or till repairs are complete, with whichever option that comes first being applicable.
We are very sorry for the frustration experienced.
