Claim declined because it is less than excess but that's because discovery gets preferential rates. I can't get my vehicle repaired for their prices.

<p>We put in a claim for a fog light which Discovery Consultant Cynthia rejected on the basis that the Assessors said that it would cost R 1,600.00 to repair and replace and that is under the excess value of R3,250.00.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have a HUGE problem with Discovery rejecting this claim because when I attempted to get it repaired at Toyota they quoted me R 3,767.12 to repair the vehicle. I queried this with Discovery and they came back and emailed me their quote for R 1,699.33 from Netassess Assessors and they said that I could take the quote to Riverside Autobody and get my vehicle repaired there for this rate.</p> <p> </p> <p>When I tried to get the car fixed there, Riverside Autobody emailed me to say they could not repair my vehicle for that price because "We have had a look at the prices for the fog lamp and we called the supplier for this part and they have given us a price for R3267.48 before vat. Maybe you should give the insurance a call regarding the amount as it is more that what they quoted on."</p> <p> </p> <p>So Discovery declines your claim because it is less than your excess but then you can't get the vehicle repaired for an amount less than your excess anywhere else. I believe this is ********** behaviour on behalf of Discovery Insure. </p> <p> </p> <p>I have been waiting a week for a response from Discovery Insure and to date I have received no feedback, apology or anything else in regard to this matter.</p>
