Cancellation of policy

I had a call with one of the guys from Discovery Insure requesting a quote for a car. I ended up taking the policy only to cancel it due to unforeseen circumstances. The guy assured me that the policy will be canceled on the 20th October 2021, however, I just received a message saying my first debit order will be on the 1st November 2021. I have proof of emails and I just called the call center, they could not put me through to the departments that cancel policies and they confirmed that the policy is still active. I am not willing to pay for something I do not have and I don't want this to affect y score.
