Be careful of requesting a quotation
I called Discovery Insure about insurance on medical aid. I was informed that I had reached the wrong call centre but was asked whether they could give me a quote for household & car insurance.I had a few spare minutes& agreed to go through the quotation process.During this call I was asked whether the debit orders should begin on 01 Feb or 01 March, as if I were to decide to proceed, it would take a month to cancel my existing policy. We then continued with the process and I was later was given the price.I was then asked if I would also need car hire which would be an additional cost. The adverts promise free car hire!I said I said I would review the policy&revert. After the call I received several emails & sms' welcoming me to Insure.I then called back to enquire about why I am being welcomed if I had only requested a quote. The agent advised that when I had agreed to the date of the debit order,I had agreed to the policy.I denied this& said I had only confirmed a date & was put thru to cancellations. The agent was extremely rude.I was then told it was cancelled &would not be debited but have now been debited an activation fee!i had not activated or signed anything!unacceptable
