Bank statement required for insurance claim?

A few weeks ago on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere I had an accident. The car was still drivable so it wasn't necessary to get a tow truck. It went through assessment, but since then all progress on the claim has been stopped until I provide my bank statement to Discovery. I do not understand how that is relevant information. On that day I did not buy anything in the area I had the accident in, so there's no transactions to \prove"I was there. Reasons like we need to ensure you were in the area you say you were in as proof"
