Bait and Switch at Discovery Insure

I called Discovery Insure to get a quote for vehicle and home contents insurance. The agent was very friendly and i explained that I wanted the same cover that I had with my previous vehicle insurer. I was clear that I wanted comprehensive cover AND car hire for 30 days. I got a quote that I was happy with and called my previous insurer to terminate my contract with them. Please note that this whole process took days to conclude and lot's of call minutes on my side to get right.

Fast forward to when I receive my policy document, i see that the car hire is not included. I call in to inquire about this and why it was left out when I was under the impression that quote that I received was inclusive of this. All I was told is that "it was a mistake on the agent's part" and if i want the car hire included, i will need to pay an extra R60 a month.

My issue with this is that I entered into the agreement based on the facts discussed with the agent, at the price that we agreed on. And based on that understanding, I terminated my previous agreement. For them to bait and switch after all of this and now change the facts on the agreement seems like misrepresentation to me. What is going to stop the next agent from negotiating a premium with another customer and then writing up something different in the policy document once the customer has agreed to enter into the agreement. Just to get the commission on the sale. This is setting up a terrible precedent. I have been trying to get a hold of the retention's manager and i have been told i would be getting a phone call everyday and i STILL have not heard anything. I keep getting passed around to different people who will also go on to ignore me. It has been 10 days now. HORRIBLE, *********, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
