Arrogant attitude

Claim ********** policy ********** 731 I recently submitted a claim for damage caused by 'in my opinion' power surges during/after power outages in Cape Town. Discovery made prompt contact with me and their appointed subcontractor based in PE. made further contact with me to arrange an electrician in CT to assess and give report back. He was from Kuils River and I in SS. ( 1 hour drive). He was prompt on time, complained about the drive and could not assess the fault as no visible damage could be seen, to what he determined were the dimmer modules. Late afternoon received mail to contact discovery. Contacted by assessor Martinus next morning and made arrangement with assesor to assess what could not be seen, and already reported upon by electrician. he too would be coming from NS. Yet again this would have required of me to leave place of work to open home for assessor. Returned call of Roslin of Discovery, and queried why an assessor was required> given a nonsensical answer and mid way through the call was told 'by the way' that the call was being recorded. This was after I had made in excess of 12 calls to get through to her in the first instance. ( call record attached). Decided to contact Martinus to cancel appoint and on his return of call explained that I would rather just replace the dimmer modules myself and see what happens. This would be far more cost effective for himself, Discovery and me. He said he would get his manager to contact me. Later that afternoon spoke to his manager who was clearly driving, did not have any helpful information about my claim at hand and proceeded to 'wing it'. He proceeded to tell me how Discovery is such an evolving business and that the procedures had recently changed, asked me questions and promptly answered same. He proceeded to tell me that if I had and suggestions to make that same would be an 'industry changer'!! He furthermore questioned why I would have put the claim in in any event for such a small amount. The conversation was one sided by a clearly arrogant 'manager' that did not help in any way to defuse my irritation and has been the catalyst to move away from Discovery as soonest. I furthermore was not interested in his suggestion that I submit my irritation to him to investigate. I believe he get in front of HIS terminal first, get up to speed with the issues at hand and then contact his client. Busy moving ALL Discovery business R25k per month to those that will treat their clients with dignity and respect.
