Activation Fee mishap: DQ Tracker

I recently took out comprehensive cover for my new vehicle with Discovery, where the premium was high due to the type of car. I was reluctant to go with Discovery in the beginning due to the premium charge being slightly higher than other quotes I received, but I was impressed with the call centre agent and the way he attended to my quote.

Before accepting the premium he quoted, I asked him over and over, if the premium to be deducted will includethe activation fee of R300 for the DQ tracker. He said yes and I accepted.

Subsequent to activation of the policy, I saw that my bank statement was debited more than once. This being for the premium and activation fee (which I was assured was included in the premium).

I called and queried and was assured by another agent that Discovery would perform a call investigation and if need be refund me, but would confirm the status by Wednesday 21st Sep.

To date, no one has contacted me, other that the actual agent who activated the policy and despite my query with him, he just left a mail saying discovery cannot refund me!

I am disappointed based on the principle... I would not have chosen the tracker at this stage had I known. I feel like cancelling this policy immediately - though again, I lose R300.

I feel misled... like he was so desperate to say anything to get the sale, though in the end I am the one who lost.

Poor customer service Discovery!
