3rd party claim

Last year I had a lady drive into the side of my vehicle last year. Due to this incident I claimed 3rd party via Discovery Insure (DI). Everything was going smoothly until DI declined a claim from panel beaters for one of my rims that was damaged in the accident. I have tiger wheel and tyre (TWT) rims on my vehicle which I didn’t state to my insurance and that is the reason for the decline. Now my argument is, if the accident was my faulty then I agree with DI that I would need to pay for repairs to my rim(s). The lady accept responsibility for the damages and a 3rd party claim was processed. Now with that said, my view is that my car needs to be restored to its original state prior to the accident on a 3rd party claim.

The incident took place last November 2016, the invoice for the TWT rim was emailed Portia Maphumulo on 22 December 2016. I have not received an email or call from Portia regarding this matter. I have discussed this matter with Rakesh Rosanlall (discovery broker) and I haven’t had any luck. I do believe his hands are tied and can’t really do any more to help me.

I am a very annoyed customer and I am considering moving my business elsewhere. I have my Medical aid, Vitality, Credit Card, Life Policy and Insure with Discovery. I have reduced my insure policy to just vehicle insurance and reducing my credit card which will be cancelled once paid up. I spend +- R3K PM with discovery and that without my credit. All this business can be lost because of Portia inability to communicate with a customer.

Thank you for taking my call.

As discussed the mag rims have not been included as part of this claim as they are extras, and would have needed to be specified on the policy in order to have cover.

I apologise for any inconvenience experienced.
