3 YEARS OLD R10, 000 MICROWAVE CLAIM REJECTION BECAUSE OF WEAR AND TEARS IS NONSENSICAL. DISCOVERY INSURE AND CHATA TECH NEED TO DO BETTER
My experience with Chata Tech and Discovery household insurance is very bad. My Whirlpool microwave had an electrical sparks and was full of smoke. Discovery insurance sent Chata Tech to pick it up for evaluation. Discovery insurance rejected the claim because Chata Tech said that it was faulty as a result of wear and tear. This is a microwave that I bought R10, 000 3 years ago. The warrantee was for 2 years. The reason why one gets household insurance is to cover the appliances once its out of warrantee but this is not the case with Discovery insurance. How can a Whirlpool R10, 000 microwave stopped working within 3 years and you said its wear and tear? This is nonsensical. A microwave life span is between 8 and 10 years and not 3 years. I do not recommend discovery insurance for your household appliances because of my current and previous experience with discovery insurance.

My friend who had a similar microwave and whose microwave had a similar problem lodged a claim with Indwe insurance and her microwave was repaired. Her microwave was 5 years old at the time when she lodged her repair claim with Indwe Insurance and her claim was not rejected as a result of wear and tears even though her microwave was 5 years old at that time.
An average life span of a microwave is 8 to 10 years. How can you say a R10, 000 (3 years old) microwave got spoiled as a result of wear and tears. I have a gas stove, an Induction stove, an oven and a air fryer that I use for cooking when I need to cook. I don't cook with microwaves. We are a family of 4 people and one of our children lives on Campus Res while the other goes to school daily in the morning and comes back home late. My husband is a medical doctor and I am an attorney, we go to work in the morning and come back home at night. Where is this wear and tear usage that Chata Tech is talking about comes from. I do not agree with your rejection.
